Kasargode, the land of ancient forts, is a silent, alluring place to visit. Bordered by sahya mountains in the east, Arabian sea in the west, Karnataka state in the north and Kannur district in the south, Kasargode is a plethora for all travellers. During the reason of August to March Kasargode allures lot of tourists. Even though industrially backward, the state boasts fertile lands,and thus the biggest producer of aracanut and tobacco in Kerala. Easiest method to reach Kasargode is via Mangalore airport,which is only 50km away. Karipur airport, Kozhikode is 200km away. If travelling by rail,you can get down at Kasargode railway station. Travelling via road is also fine as there are ample roads connecting Karnataka and Kerala

Places to visit
Bakel fort
Situated at 14km away from Kasargode, this ancient fort is build on the shore of arabian sea. Bakel fort with its animated beach attracts lots of tourits. It was built to meet defense requirements.
The zig zag entrance, vivacious flight of steps, trenches, the tunnel that opens towards south and the sea waves that stroke the fort walls pleasantly all add to the beauty of the fort
Kappil beach
Six kms away from Bakel fort is Kappil beech.
This earthy ,harmonious beach in Kasargode is an excellent get away for gentle souls
Chandragiri fort
Built in 17th century,this fort is located at the south eastern outskirt of Kasargode.
River Payaswini, an enchanting river flows on one side of the fort. The shasta temple and mosque near the fort are worth visiting.
Kanjangad
At Kanjangad you can visit Hosdurg fort built by Somashekhara Nayaka. Karppureshwaram,located near this attracts multitude of pilgrims. Another place to visit is the Nityananda ashram.
Ananthapuram
One and only lake temple in Kerala, Ananthapuram temple, is 12km towards east from Kanjangad. Origin of Ananthapadmanabha,the famous idol of Thiruvananthapuram Ananthapadmanabha temple is this temple. This place is ideal for pilgrimage in Kasargode.
Pandyan rock
Ideal for adventurous swimming, Pandyan rock rises from sea at a distance of about 2km away from shore.Veeramala hills
Situated at Cheruvatur,a southern Kasargode city, the hill top is adorned by the ruins of an 18th century dutch fort. Tourists love to view the elated beauty of Kariangode river from the hill top.
Kottancherry
Chilly and exotic rain forests of Kottancherry in Kasargode district attracts tourists who love to trek. It is about 30km south of Kanjangad. Kottacherry wildlife sanctuary can also be visitedRanipuram/Madathumala
Located at 780m above the sea level this place has a climate similar to Ootty. It is about 85km away from Kasargode town. Wild elephants roaming through the valley is a common site in this sanctuary. Rare birds and butterflies are also seen
