Wayanad

Lakes,caves,forts,deep forests and ancient temples...there is lot more to see in Wayanad. The chilly earthy evenings offer a peaceful atmosphere to the travellers. Surrounded by Kabani river,the Kuruva island in Wayanad is a feast to travellers. With its assorted birds and rare orchids the island is a perfect get away for tourists. In the east of Wayanad district kids Nilgiri and Tamilnadu, north lies Karnataka, in the south Malappuram and in the west lies Kozhikode and Kannur districts. Tourist reason in Wayanad is August to May. By air you can reach Wayanad via Karipur airport,situated about 105km away from Kalpetta. From there you can travel by taxi or Kerala road transport corporation buses. Travelling via road to Wayanad is fun as the hair pin turns and the deep forests evokes every soul. Nearest railway station is Kozhikode railway station which is about 72km from Kalpetta.

Pukot lake

Situated at Vythiri this fresh water lake is surrounded by trees and mountains. Boating facility is provided her

Kalpetta

Kalpetta,the capital of Wayanad is 72kms away from Kozhikode. 6kms away from Kalpetta is Puliyar mountain in which Ananthanatha swami jain temple.

Edakkal caves

Situated at 12kms from sultan bathery and 3kms from Ambalavayal is Ambukuthi mountain. Walls of this cave are engraved with pictures by ancient people.

Mirror temple

20kms away from Kalpetta, on the valley of Vellari mountain is situated this famous jain temple. The mirrors in this temple are awesome.

Mananthavadi Pazhashi memoir

Pazhashi raja,the king,spent his last days in this place. Pazhashi raja's tomb and a park in his name is located at this place.

Pakshi Pathalam

A famous bird sanctuary,this place is located at Brahmagiri mountain's valley, which is located at 10km away from Thirunelli. The only option to reach here is by walk.

Thirunelli

Known as dakshinakashi( kashi of south) thirunelli is located at 32kms away from Mananthavadi. A vishnu temple is located in the valley of brahmagiri. Papanashini river flows near this temple

Kuruva island

45kms away from Sultan bathery and 17kms away from Mananthavadi, this island is surrounded by Kabani river. In addition to wildlife, rare flowers and orchids are found here.

Brahmagiri

11kms from Thirunelli and 29kms from Mananthavadi, this is a perfect place for tourist interested in trekking.

Sulthan Bathery

Tipu sulthan's fort is situated here. Wild life warden's office is situated here.

Panamaram

Situated at 29kms from sulthan bathery, Panamaram is the place where Pazhashi raja's fort is built.
