Pathanamthitta

Pathanamthitta, the land of lord Ayyappa attracts pilgrims from all over India. Bordered by Kottayam and Idukki on north, Kollam on south, Alappuzha on west and Sahya mountains on the east, Pathanamthitta is blessed with lord Ayyappa's presence. Covered in lakes, rivers and forest, this district is a good producer of rice,rubber,tapioca and pepper. Aranmula boat race and Aranmula valkannadi are famous.Pathanamthitta is also known as the pilgrim capital of Kerala. The name of this district derives from the words pathanam which means houses and thitta means by the river side. Via road one can reach Pathanamthitta by nedumbasserry airport which is 146km away. Nearest railway station is thiruvalla railway station which is 30kms away. For road transport KSRTC buses and private vehicles are available
