Kollam/Quilon

Formerly known as Quilon, Kollam is bordered by Sahya mountains on the east, arabian sea on the west, Thiruvananthapuram on the south and Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta on the north. Coconut used fringed sandy coastlines, a spectacular rock called Jadayu rock, an elegant palace on the long sandy beaches, beautiful silver waterfalls all attract tourists to Kollam. Vallikavu, the main ashram of mother Amritanandamayi is situated in this district. Tourist reason is August to March. Trivandrum international airport is 71kms away from Kollam. Kollam railway junction is the nearest railway station. Kerala state road transport corporation buses and private vehicles make travelling via road comfortable.
