Alleppey/Alappuzha

Alleppey/Alappuzha,the venice of the east is famous for its spectacular backwaters and house boats. Bordered by arabian sea on the west, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts in the east, Kollan district on the north and Vembanad lake on the north. Heart warning back water rides, beaches and parks and Pathiramanal,an exotic island makes Alleppey/Alappuzha unique from all the other districts in Kerala. Walking through the country side is a pleasant experience that any tourist can enjoy here. Hibiscus clad fences, domestic roosters, large courtyards lined with exotic flowers and foliage and friendly villagers are a common sight here. The boat race of Alleppey/Alappuzha and vallapattu, a distinctive form of popular music are bonuses that every tourist will enjoy. Second biggest producier of rice, Kerala is also famous for its coir. Women braiding the golden fibre is unique to Alleppey/Alappuzha. Temperature varies between 20 to 35 degrees. Via air you can reach by nedumbassery airport which is 86kms away and trivandrum airport which is 159kms away. If you are travelling via rail,you can get down at Alleppey/Alappuzha railway station. By road you can travel by Kerala state road transport corporation buses or private vehicles.
